Melanie Baier studied economics with a focus on innovation economics, game theory and managerial economics at the TU Dresden, where she also obtained her doctorate.
In addition to her work as a lecturer, Ms. Baier worked for several years in the field of applied innovation research and product development as part of strategic innovation projects.
She is Professor of Data Science in Business Economics at Quadriga University Berlin. Her research interests include newer data analytical methods for economic and business applications and in particular the question of how Explainable AI (XAI) can help to overcome reservations about AI solutions in business functional areas and promote the responsible and informed use of AI solutions through better data and AI literacy.
