Tanja Gönner

Tanja Gönner (born 1969) has been Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) since 2022. Until 2012, she was Spokeswoman of the Board of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

From 2002 to 2004 she was a member of the German Bundestag. In 2004 she moved to the state government of Baden-Württemberg as Minister for Social Affairs. In 2005 she took over the Ministry of the Environment and was subsequently head of the Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport until 2011. From 2011 until she became head of GIZ, she was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg. Gönner was a member of the CDU Federal Executive Committee from 2000 to 2012. She studied law and was a partner in a law firm for five years before her political career.

Tanja Gönner
